Practice rolls without painful ears.
I have perforated ear drums from my time in the military and it can be painful when water gets in my ears. Theses give me the ability to practice my rolls without any trouble or pain in my ears afterwards.

Avoid the uncomfortable bone growths
AVOID THIS->
"Surfer's ear (also known as swimmer's ear) is a condition where the bone of the ear canal develops multiple bony growths called exostoses. Over time, this can eventually cause a partial or complete blockage of the ear canal. The condition is primarily caused by prolonged exposure to cold water or wind."
Use these and avoid surgery. the lanyard makes them easy to keep on you and any hearing reduction, while minor, can be removed quickly from either audio input on your head.

Excellent ear plugs. They worked well for keeping water out of my ears while rafting the Colorado River. Which made for a more enjoyable trip.

Too big for my ear canals
The description implies one size fits all. However, they would not fit into my ear canals which are smallish for an adult. So they are useless to me.

Get what you pay for
First time use in some flat water rolling practice I noticed immediately that these did not fully seal the water out of my ears. I'd read and followed the instructions (screw them into your ears), and they blocked sound effectively, but did not keep the water out in a dynamic environment. Head movement was clearly causing these to loosen.
After a few rolls they came completely out of my ears, and I only noticed because they were floating next to me in the water. I put them back in for one more try, and they not only came out again, but one of the ear plugs came off the string and got lost.

Great for cold water
I use these ear plugs for winter paddling in dynamic water where it's likely I'm going to be upside down. They fit great under the NRS Mystery Sea Hood with Bill -- there's no added pressure on my ears when the flaps are down. Even without the string, I doubt these would go anywhere, but for good measure I just loop it loosely around my nose plug cord.
These ear plugs have enabled me to feel comfortable upside down in my boat year-round, and have made winter paddling more fun.

Good Earplugs
I use these for general whitewater kayaking, surfing, roll/flatwater practice. The water here is generally cold enough to mess with my equilibrium if I don't wear earplugs.
The string is nice because you can let one plug dangle for most flatwater/easier sections to be able to hear other paddlers/the river/etc., then quickly eddy out to put it in before sections with more splash.
Make sure if you do use the string that you actually knot it on the plug end rather than just sticking it in the end, because you'll quickly lose your plugs.
