We’ve used other brands over the years on our larger breed dogs and they were ok. I wish we had purchased from NRS because the grab handle is really helpful with lifting in and out of boats. But the biggest and best difference is having flotation on the sides and support under the neck. All the others have flotation on the top, which made our dogs roll a little and made it harder to naturally keep their heads above water.
Thank you NRS for caring enough to create and produce an option for our puppers!
My buddy weighs 70 pounds with a slim waist and a deep chest and size large fits perfect, with room to adjust either way. The D ring for attaching a leash makes it work
like harness. And the "pull him back into the boat" handle is awesome!
Questions
My french bulldog was in between small and medium. I’m glad I went to medium.
The vest has great adjustments and was able to get it to fit. It’s adjusted as small as it would go, but the fit is good and has the of additional flotation of the next size up.
It’s important that you have a good fit in the chest for your dog’s safety. I think I would go for the large. There is still room to loosen it if you need to.
With your dog a strong swimmer I would get the SMALL (life jacket runs big). The extra floatation of a medium is not necessary. Our dog is 19 pounds and the small life jacket is cinched just as small as possible with lots of chest size available.
Yes! This is the third life jacket I’ve bought for my dog, and it’s the best. Easy to slip over their head, clip it, and you’re done. It is sturdy and buoyant.
Hello Frank,
The NRS CFD Dog Life Jacket is currently manufactured overseas.
I would size up. The tummy straps can adjust to fit if it’s too loose. This is the best jacket I’ve ever used for my dog.
I wanna teach the pup to ride the paddle board
Our dogs have been wearing NRS Dog Life Jackets on raft trips for years. This one is for our little pup.
Good reviews from back country folks and the leash d ring
for my dog to float
