Game-changer!
This is by far the best dog PFD. It’s really easy to put on and is exceptionally well-made. Just as great as the human option!

We’ve used other brands over the years on our larger breed dogs and they were ok. I wish we had purchased from NRS because the grab handle is really helpful with lifting in and out of boats. But the biggest and best difference is having flotation on the sides and support under the neck. All the others have flotation on the top, which made our dogs roll a little and made it harder to naturally keep their heads above water.

Thank you NRS for caring enough to create and produce an option for our puppers!

This fits our dog 55 lb black lab perfectly. It looked like it would be a bit small but it fits great. 3rd one for our dogs and this will be the go to.

This life jacket fits great, fully adjustable with clip buckles (no Velcro). Bear doesn’t mind wearing this jacket, we struggled with other brands, especially with the neck area. I highly recommend this dog life jacket!

Trusted protection
Gus hasn't actually said he likes his CFD..but I im sure he does! And what I like, is that it was designed by people use to pulling the the dog back in the boat! Lol
My buddy weighs 70 pounds with a slim waist and a deep chest and size large fits perfect, with room to adjust either way. The D ring for attaching a leash makes it work
like harness. And the "pull him back into the boat" handle is awesome!

I wanna teach the pup to ride the paddle board

Our dogs have been wearing NRS Dog Life Jackets on raft trips for years. This one is for our little pup.

Good reviews from back country folks and the leash d ring

for my dog to float

My dog is right between a medium and large for both chest size and weight. Would you recommend sizing up or down?

My french bulldog was in between small and medium. I’m glad I went to medium.
The vest has great adjustments and was able to get it to fit. It’s adjusted as small as it would go, but the fit is good and has the of additional flotation of the next size up.

Both of my dogs weigh about 85-90 lbs, but chest size measures 32” for both. Is it better to get a large based on chest size, or XL based on weight?

It’s important that you have a good fit in the chest for your dog’s safety. I think I would go for the large. There is still room to loosen it if you need to.

Looking at this for my Brittany, she's a strong swimmer, but i'm looking to take up paddle boarding with her. Chest measurements make her a SMALL (24/25"), but weight makes her a MEDIUM (36lbs). Any thoughts? TIA

With your dog a strong swimmer I would get the SMALL (life jacket runs big). The extra floatation of a medium is not necessary. Our dog is 19 pounds and the small life jacket is cinched just as small as possible with lots of chest size available.

I'm thinking of getting this for a flash flood emergency while traveling across country. The NRS website says "this isn't a certified coast guard approved life jacket, but a flotation device to keep your furry buddy's head above water". Would this jacket be good in an emergency or rough waters?

Yes! This is the third life jacket I’ve bought for my dog, and it’s the best. Easy to slip over their head, clip it, and you’re done. It is sturdy and buoyant.

Is this made in the US?

Hello Frank,

The NRS CFD Dog Life Jacket is currently manufactured overseas.

My dog’s chest measurement fits into the Medium range, but weight is in the Large range. Which would size would you recommend?

I would size up. The tummy straps can adjust to fit if it’s too loose. This is the best jacket I’ve ever used for my dog.

My dog weighs around 35lbs and according to the size chart, he is solidly a medium for weight. However, I cannot tighten the straps enough to get a snug fit around the chest. Should I size down for better fit even though he's outside the weight range for a small?
