Great stable bot
Great overall craft. VERY stable even on pretty splashy Class II-III water. My wife and I are able to navigate pretty easily but the forward paddler definitely can drive the direction if the back isn't paying attention.

Best bang for your buck
I've owned an outfitter II for six years now and have loved every moment. This boat has been down all of the Missouri tributary rivers and the Yellowstone. Never have I met a situation that this boat couldn't handle. The outfitter is definitely a serious contender. My wife and I love the storage space for day trips and this thing can store enough gear for days for solo trips. My outfitter might last 15 more years, it doesn't really have any signs of wear other than some fading of the color. I'm sure I will enjoy this boat far into the future. If you want a rock solid boat for two this is your destiny.

Awesome Boat!
My wife and I live in Alaska and have used this boat all over the state for the last 8 years. We've packed it on the plane, the back of an SUV and in a rocket box. This is an awesome boat for beginner or intermediate paddling and is almost impossible to capsize in up to class IV water. I would highly recommend this boat to anyone getting into boating or already owning some paddle skills.

Why did you choose this?

I have the AIRE Outfitter I and love it. Buying the Outfitter II for extended trips/trips with the dog and friends.

This thing is so stable it's easy to learn on and gives me confidence with kids

We have two other AIREs and want to add another!

While considering many options, the durability and recommendation from friends sent me to this versatile overnite tandem IK.

Is NRS able to order this kayak in the green color?

Yes, Tom, we can order the Dark Green or Lime for you. Please give us a call, 800.635.5202, to order and we'll find out when it will be available for you.

I did not see a "max load capacity" . What is the max gross weight it will carry?

Thanks,

Jon

Jon, AIRE lists a 525 pound load capacity. Be aware that's just a displacement calculation to a certain waterline and not a "max" figure. Here's why we don't list weight capacities for our boats - http://www.nrs.com/boating_tips/boatweightcapacity.asp

can it be used as a single?

Yes, it is a good, stable boat and can be used as a single easily. As mentioned in the previous reply, just a few minutes to put the seat in and you are off!!

Does the outfitter 2 come with cheetah chairs or are those sold separately?

It comes with the 2 chairs as shown. They are very adjustable for different configurations and sized paddlers. Comfortable enough for a several day trip down the Salmon. Once we got ours just how we wanted them you can just unbuckle the seats for storage leaving the clips in place for replacement next time.

FYI - We bought the knee straps as well but have yet to need them in class II+ water. Very stable craft.

How small can it pack down too? For taking on a small bush plane.

I am able to fit mine, including seats, patch kit and pump in a northface duffel bag that is 19” x19” x 31.5”.

Do you sell the Outfitter 1 Inflatable Kayak?

Brendan, we don't stock the Outfitter I, but can order one for you. It generally only takes 3-4 days for them to deliver. Please give us a call to order, 800.635.5202.

What paddle would you recommend for this boat?

Jackson, this article gives some guidelines for choosing paddle length - https://www.nrs.com/inflatables/paddle_sizing_guide.asp - We offer a wide range of paddles - https://www.nrs.com/category/3123/whitewater-kayaking/whitewater-paddles - with filters for narrowing your selection. Please give us a call, 800.635.5202, or email service@nrs.com for help in picking the best paddle for your boating needs.

Can you ad leg straps to this boat?

Yes, Thigh Straps - http://www.nrs.com/category/2680/life-jackets/rescue-life-jackets -can be added by threading the adjustment straps through the floor drain holes.

What is cargo carrying capacity (weight) of the airre outfitter 2?

Rob, AIRE doesn't give weight carrying capacity. This boat can easily carry two full-sized adults and some gear, or one person and plenty of gear for multiday expeditions.

Is the recommended inflation pressure 2.5 psi for the tubes, and also the floor?

Yes, Bill, 2.5 psi throughout the boat.
