I have two of these. One for my wife, and the other for myself. We have used them in all weather conditions. Anything from Snowing, raining, sleeting, and extremely hot weather. They stay in our travel trailer when not in use for the most part. They have been bumped around in our trailer, back of the truck, out on the river etc. Other than just showing they have been used, they are still in excellent condition. We have used them for appx 2years now, and they are practically like new. No carbon fiber chips or anything. After using them I’ve found that I love the weight of the carbon fiber.
Don’t hesitate to buy these. They are legit, and you will not be dissatisfied.

Care and maintenance: Adjustable ferrules are built with fine tolerances for a precise fit. Sand, silt or salt left inside the ferrule will interfere with adjustability. After each use, take the paddle apart and thoroughly rinse the ferrule with warm water. Dry before reassembling.

Great entry level kayak paddle
The year was 2020, buzzword COVID19. Social distancing had everyone hitting the water. Everything water-related in short supply. NRS was prepared, they had inventory and initially a great selection of gear.
With a new sit on top kayak in the garage, a new paddle was needed. No brainer here, Werner all the way, the Skagit checked all the boxes: lightweight, midsized low-angle blades, carbon fiber reinforced blades, Smart View adjustable ferrule.
A year later, kayak paddle inventories depleted. Nothing but pleased with my paddle purchase decision. This paddle allowed me to grow into it, now enjoying the benefits of feathering the blades for paddle stroke efficiency and comfort.

A quality, light weight paddle.
This is my second Werner Skagit. Light weight and handles well. I like to shop around, make comparisons. Went back to the Skagit every time.
